THE RAINBOW SERIES-SMALL ARTWORKS
The Rainbow series were born out of my fascination with rainbows: the phenomenal mystery of colour created by light on the sky has been my long time inspiration and keeps coming back in my paintings.
These series however also have a special meaning to me related to the rainbow flag and the LGBTQ+ community and my Polish background.
Watching from Canada news about Poland which has the worst LGBTQ+ rights among European countries makes me feel sad, angry and frustrated.
I created these series in solidarity with Polish LGBTQ+ community and their fight for their rights.
Rainbow series are composed of 10 paintings on raw canvas mounted on wooden boards in two sizes 10/10” and 12/12”. While I typically paint large I wanted to create cohesive body of smaller works which are more affordable.
Through these series I learnt to get out of my comfort zone and use different materials rather than my usual gallery stretched canvas.
